Global University of Extension Schools (GUES) Short-Term Training

1.Overview
The Association of Accounting and Public Policy started the Global University of Extension School (GUES) project in August 2016 and will start the short-term training program. This program will be organized for people such as university students, graduate school students and businesspersons and will include classes regarding Japanese language training, lectures on Japan’s economy, the social and political systems of Japan, Japanese culture, and others.

*The course design will be made in accordance with the needs and requests from participating organizations (following is an example outline of the program).

2.Target
Participants will stay in Japan for a term of one or two weeks to one or two months and attend several lectures, training classes and field trips. They are expected to acquire:
● a basic idea and information regarding Japan’s economy, politics and culture.
● knowledge, skills, and abilities for communication and global networking.
● networks with distinguished Japanese people in business and political circles.

3. Required proficiency level regarding language
● Attending a course for learning about Japan’s economy, politics and culture.
   English skill level for graduation from high school is required for attending this course.
● Attending courses for learning the Japanese language.
→Beginner course: None.
→Primary course:experience studying 50 hours of Japanese language.
→Intermediate course:Certificate for the N4 or N3
​(Language proficiency is negotiable.)

4.Curriculum
The curriculum consists of lectures regarding the Japanese language and economy, social and political systems of Japan and Japanese culture. There is an option for a Field Trip and networking.

<Japanese Language>
● Beginner course:Acquiring ability to attend the Primary course through 50 hours of study.
● Primary course:Acquiring ability to communicate in Japanese during shopping, eating out, and sight seeing.
● Intermediate course:Acquiring ability to make simple conversation, writing and short presentations.

<Lecture on economy, social and political systems of Japan and Japanese culture>
Participants study the economy, social and political systems of Japan and Japanese culture by attending interactive workshop style classes.

<Field Trip>
Participants experience leading-edge Japanese technologies and industries through visits and observation of sites such as factories and industrial museums.

<Networking>
Participants attend networking events and have a chance to communicate with distinguished Japanese people in business and political circles.

5.Term
  There are two kinds of term options:
          ● 1-2 week Program
● 1-2 month Program

6.Configuration of class
One class is organized with 10-20 participants.

7.Lecturers
   Lecturers are organized by experienced faculty members from distinguished universities.

8.Accommodations
● Hotels: 8,000 yen/one night (Single room)
● Flat:62,000 yen/one month(Single room)
● Condominium:6,000 yen/one night (Single room)

9.Course Fee
One week:100,000 yen
Two weeks:150,000 yen
One month:200,000 yen
Two months:300,000 yen

10.other expenditures​
(1)Air fees and transportation fee from Airport to School in Japan.
(2)Accommodation Fee and transportation fee between accommodation and school.
(3)Expenses for the Field trip, etc.
